THE REVEREND MURRAY WOOLNOUGH
Parishioners will be glad that the Bishop has made an appointment to the Parish of Woy Woy. It is hoped that the Reverend Murray Woolnough will be commissioned at a service sometime in September. Our thanks go to our elected representatives on the Incumbency Appointments Board for their contributions in the always difficult task of finding a new pastor. Murray has been appointed Priest-in-Charge of the parish.
He is 35 years old. Both he and his wife, Bee, are Australians. They have a 3 year old son, Toby. Murray gained the Certificate of Theology after studies at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. He was ordained deacon in Oxford in July 2009 and priest in July 2010. At present he is curate at St Nicholas', Newbury, in Berkshire. It is a large parish with 4 clergy. Since the rector has moved on there and his successor has not arrived yet, Murray has been especially busy.
Bishop Farran writes of him. "I am delighted that a priest of Murray's capacity and personality is to be your new priest. I am certain that Murray's experience in a very large and active parish in the Diocese of Oxford will greatly benefit the parish of Woy Woy in its mission and ministry. I am grateful to the members of the Incumbency Appointments Board for their prayerful and careful discerning. I have had the opportunity of interviewing Murray twice both in Newcastle and in London. I am very impressed by him."
Bee Woolnough is a trained social worker. She and Murray were married in early 2004
